What is RSS?

RSSIn a nutshell: RSS is like reading all your favorite blogs on one blog.

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is an awesome way for avid blog readers to automatically collect all new posts into one list. I personally follow 10 blogs on a daily basis, so rather than check all blogs for new posts individually, I have subscribed to their “RSS feeds” and am now seeing all new posts on one single page! And if there are no updates, the list appropriately keeps itself empty. Very simple and time-efficient.

Now, there are a number of different ways to manage RSS subscriptions. I’ve personally discovered Google Reader to be the best choice because of simplicity and ease of use. There is also a mobile version of Google Reader which makes reading your favorite blogs on the train a better alternative to grabbing a bulky newspaper every morning.

If you don’t like idea of using an RSS reader to collect posts from your favorite blogs, many blogs (including Self-Learner) also offer a way to automatically send their new posts to your email address.

Now that you know how convenient RSS is, you can subscribe to Self-Learner and start receiving updates automatically.
